About Me

Welcome to the world of backcountry skiing

My name is Ville Strandman, and I am more than just a ski guide—I am a passionate explorer of the snow-capped wonders and majestic mountains. With nearly four decades of skiing experience, over 20 of which have been dedicated to backcountry skiing, I can confidently say that the mountains have become my second home.

I am originally from Finland and have been skiing in Alps, Norway, and Sweden. Currently, I live in Chamonix, France. I guide skiing in Finnish Lapland and in North Norway.

For me, backcountry skiing is not just a hobby; it’s a way of life, a journey of continuous learning and growth. The thrill of carving fresh tracks in untouched powder is incomparable, but what truly fulfills my soul is sharing this exhilarating experience with YOU! Guiding others through the backcountry and witnessing the joy on their faces as they embrace the freedom of the wilderness is a privilege I cherish every day.

To ensure the utmost safety and professionalism, I am a certified level 1 ski guide from the esteemed Canadian Ski Guide Association (CSGA). This certification equips me with the skills necessary to navigate the mountain environment with a sharp focus on terrain assessment, hazard analysis, and mountain sense. It’s not just about the technicalities; it’s about using judgment and decision-making skills to make each skiing adventure an unforgettable and secure one.

See you on the slopes!
